they are right. Apparently there was dual ownership of rights to the script of thunderball or something like that. Anyway the other party decided to cash in on the success of bond and made Never Say Never Again, and even managed to get Sean Connery to star in it. Roger Moore was playing bond in the "official" United Artists films. They did a pretty good job of the remake too.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the Lazenby bond, was an official bond film in the series and was pretty good, except for the whole thing about bond falling in love and getting married. Lazenby was rubbish in the role though, thankfully it was his only films.

Useless trivia: Lazenby is actually an Aussie so they redubbed the whole film with someone elses voice - maybe one of the reasons it was sooooooooooooooo bad

I doubt that never say never would be in the boxed set, and afaik there were quite a few bonds before goldeneye not written by flemming

Books written by Ian Flemming that became "Bonds":

    Casino Royale (1953)
    Live and Let Die (1954)
    Moonraker (1955)
    Diamonds Are Forever (1956)
    From Russia, with Love (1957)
    Doctor No (1958)
    Goldfinger (1959)
    For Your Eyes Only (1960)
    Thunderball (1961)
The Spy Who Loved Me (1962)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1963)
    You Only Live Twice (1964)
The Man with the Golden Gun (1965)
    The Living Daylights (1966)
    Octopussy (1966)

Of course Casino Royale was made by Woody Allen and certainly isn't counted in the offical series of films;P

There were also a few short stories that (kind of) became movies - AFAIK Licence Revoked^H^H^H^H^H^H^H To Kill was one of these.
