    Hmmm, I hope they don't take this too seriously....

    "In response to an internet poll by the BBC looking to determine "The World's Top 10" - that is, the top ten pop songs of all time on planet earth - anonymous voters have pushed The Wolfe Tones' 'A Nation Once Again' near the top of the list. " - hotpress

    Now we can all sing it together...

    "A Nation Once Again"
    Thomas Osbourne Davis

    When boyhood's fire was in my blood
    I read of ancient freemen,
    For Greece and Rome who bravely stood,
    Three hundred men and three men;
    And then I prayed I yet might see
    Our fetters rent in twain,
    And Ireland, long a province, be.
    A Nation once again!

    A Nation once again,
    A Nation once again,
    And lreland, long a province, be
    A Nation once again!

    And from that time, through wildest woe,
    That hope has shone a far light,
    Nor could love's brightest summer glow
    Outshine that solemn starlight;
    It seemed to watch above my head
    In forum, field and fane,
    Its angel voice sang round my bed,
    A Nation once again!

    It whisper'd too, that freedom's ark
    And service high and holy,
    Would be profaned by feelings dark
    And passions vain or lowly;
    For, Freedom comes from God's right hand,
    And needs a Godly train;
    And righteous men must make our land
    A Nation once again!

    So, as I grew from boy to man,
    I bent me to that bidding
    My spirit of each selfish plan
    And cruel passion ridding;
    For, thus I hoped some day to aid,
    Oh, can such hope be vain ?
    When my dear country shall be made
    A Nation once again!

    And they had to fight off stiff competition for the top spot.

    Once again we have proved why Irish people should not be let near the internet. :p

    This will be my last post as i have imposed a ban on myself, being of unsound irish body and unsound irish mind, from using the 'intunett' ever again...

    tell my mom i love her...

    well...
    i really hate crappy pop chats and i'm glad it's fúcked up, cos if it wasn't the wolf tones it would have been some stupid pop tart anyway....
    not that i think in any way that the song is any good.
    i wish we could have done some thing a little less... political.
    maybe some thing funnier... like bando or some thing? an unsigned irish band that broke up winning would have been more fun i think

    Agreed. its just a shame that the nation couldn't unite behind something like 'Ebeneezer Goode' by The Shamen.

    Wow, the Irish outvoted the Indians/Pakistanians?

    Would be funny if it hadn't been started by 'we hate the British' gobsh!tes.

    Totally agree too 66,

    Those who spend 9 months talkin about the fact that Beckham/Owen/or whichever BRITISH player they adore playing for 'their' team, is injured/playing badly/playing goodly etc and then when they are playing for ENGLAND, they are the enemy.

    No wonder keano is so loved here.

    Hope my boss/certain co-workers are reading this...doubt it , theres no pictures.

    The England international games are the ****ing worst, you know it.

    I watched England vs argentina in a couldron of hate at my local in 1998 with my friends hanging from the rafters like a breed of urangutan screaming for joy coz that 'scumbag puff' Beckham was sent off...

    ...fast forward to 6 months later and they are back to worshipping his scrote because, after all, they are pure Man U, through and through.

    Contradict yourself much?
