Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

BOTH unemployment and inflation will rise next year, two major economic forecasts predict. It will be the first time this has happened in 20 years.

    Says it all really :/

Well we're governed by people who had a couple of good ideas about 10 years ago but never copped on that you must adapt, move up the value chain etc.

Things at the moment are disturbingly reminiscent of 25-30 years ago - rampant asset, consumer and wage inflation and dire trouble a-brewing in the middle east (leading to rising oil prices). The Irish economy went into a steady decline from 1973-79 and did not recover until around 1993-94

oh well roll on another good old Irish 20 year recession! I hope all you "Celtic Tiger cubs" have mates in London, Berlin, Boston etc who will let you crash in their flats while you find jobs. :(

Perhaps if we have a really good recession and unemployment, people will lose their mortgages and house prices will fall since the banks won't be able to sell the houses on at high prices. Silver lining?

Silver lining if you happen to have (n) hundred thousand nested away for when house prices fall.

    I wouldn't hold my breath.

Guess I'm out of luck no matter what happens.
