Dial up networking problem in XP

When I set up my dial up isp in XP pro I elected to save password and connect automatically. Problem is that each time it tries to connect there's an extra five or six characters in the password. The obvious result is that it won't connect and I'm reduced to spending my precious time typing in my password each time. Not a big problem in itself but I'm sharing the connection with my laptop over 802.11b and I can't go online on the laptop without going up to the PC and connecting first.
I've tried deleting the connection and setting it up afresh but it keeps happening. Any thoughts?

When you save a dial up connection password, you just see the default characters instead of your password.

If you use a short password it may look as though it is appending characters, and if you use a long one, it looks as if its truchicating it. It is simply not displaying the no of characters in your password. That would assist someone trying to access it, making guessing it easier.

I guess theres some other problem.

I think if you install Client for Microsoft Networks it will remember your password (had same problem with W2K).

Let me know how yah get on!

Seems Xterminator was right, it does default to showing x amount of characters for p/w. Must have been a freaky coincidence that it didn't connect with save password enabled.
    Thanks for the replies guys!
