Mystery symbol on Nokia 3350

My brother had his phone unlocked in his pocket the other day and this "2" symbol appeared on his screen... When he tries to make a call "Check operator services" comes up on the screen... It's o2 Speakeasy and there is credit on it.... Helpline is closed and I haven't the chance to call them any other time... Any ideas…

ask him to press and hold the # key - the phone should ask if he want's to change the phone line, press OK

this denotes Line 2 is active, he needs to swap back to Line 1 (the Alternate Line Service allows the operator to provide one SIM to connect with two different accounts / lines, don't think it's offered here)
