Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Anyone remember The Storyteller?

I loved this show when I was a kid! John Hurt played The Storyteller and he had a talking dog that sometimes butted in when he was telling a story. The stories were usually based on old European folk-tales. All the fantasy creatures (monsters, etc.) were done by the Jim Henson Workshop.

That sounds insanely familiar. I think a cousin of mine had it on video many years ago...

That was Hensons First major Project after Fraggle Rock.
As i recall C4 hid it in some wierd timeslot like 8.35 or something
Very good but i cant remember it being repeated.

The hallmark channel (190 on Sky) seem to be showing it - at least they're showing an ep right now and another following it

(though it's actually Storyteller: Greek myths rather than the original series - no John Hurt - Michael "General Zevo" Gambon instead)

Interrupting dog and all (am I right in thinking Brian Henson does the dog voice? - sounds just like Hoggle out of Labyrinth).

    You're correct.

It was an excellent series. The version they did of the Minstrel's Soup story where they have Hurts character as the character of the story (as if it was autobiographical) was a nice touch.

Going, possibly, completely off the point, they're repeating the Muppet Show(best show in the world!) on TG4 every night at 6.30. Be warned, sometimes it's in evil Irish but there are subtitles!
    Go Jim Henson!
