Having had a bad time in the 1990's when it came to tech investment the Welsh now have the finger out with 47% of Primary and Secondary (2Mb and 8Mb connections respectively) schools on Broadband within 2 months. They must be laffing at the E-Tub standard Edumacashunamal 64k ISDN connection. Heres a bit of Info on how the celtic cousins got the finger out in ....July 2002 it seems.

Their version of the IDA, the WDA as they call it, has the Following linked to its home page in which is explained, basically , that EVERY small business in Wales can get a subsidy to install VSAT connections while the likes of ADSL and Cable are rolled out.

Wales is also where This wireless kit is being tried out in a MESH trial. Comreg has reposessed some licences from Chorus and ESAT in the relevant wavebands during the past few months and proposes to re-issue them next year.
