Kids Party - "Nu-Metal" recommendations needed

I'm doing a kids party in the function room of our community centre this coming Saturday... it's for a bunch of 12 - 14 year old's who are into the likes of SUM41, Korn, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, etc. ... all that shite... and I don't have much of it, tbh...

Can anyone recommend me some good tracks to get hold of?... or possibly a good compilation album with a mix of popular stuff in this genre. It'll only be a 2 hour set for the kids party... might be following it up with a party for the "older" folk afterwards.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Well y'see... I don't know these bands all that well... what would be the more popular tracks these days from the likes of...

Sum 41, Korn, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Nickelback, Godsmack, (and others of their 'ilk' ;) )

    Try these:

    Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff
    Limp Bizkit - Rollin'
Linkin Park - One Step Closer
    Linkin Park - Crawling
Linkin Park - Points Of Authority
Korn - Freak On A Leash
    Papa Roach - Last Resort
    Papa Roach - Dead Cell
Papa Roach - She Loves Me Not
Lost Prophets - The Fake Sound Of Progress
Sum 41 - In Too Deep
    Sum 41 - Fat Lip
    Sum 41 - Motivation
    A - Nothing
    Nickelback - Too Bad
Nickelback - How You Remind Me
    Puddle Of Mudd - Control

I pity you for having to listen to all them though :)

That's most of the bigger songs, I think.

britney - i love rock and roll.
    thats new metal aswell!

Mayhem - I Am Thy Labyrinthe

Ok, probably not... But it would be worth it to see the look on the kids' faces! :D

I dont know much other nu-metal than what's already been suggested. But you could try some of the 'punk' bands that are doing the rounds these days, like The Offspring, Blink182, and those. Queens Of The Stone Age would go down pretty well, as would Wheezer. 'Feel Good Hit Of The Summer' and 'Hash Pipe' respectively.

just see what kind of vaguely rock crap is in the charts these days.
anything vaguely angsty will do really, you tell them its cool, and they'll think its cool, heh

Anyhoo... don't forget the popular old Nirvana stuff. Thats all these kids idolise, "I hate myself and want to die" kinda crap. Er... I cant really think of anything else, Bowling For Soup? They sound quite punky aswell.

Correction there... most of these kids aren't even 16. The majority of them are only around 12 or 13.

stop being pedantic. i was simply poking fun at the "angst" that these nu-metal kiddies feel the need to express by listening to crap metal, wearing black baggy tops and generally being self absorbed twats.

Play 'Dark Tranquility - Nether Novas', and have an mg42 outside eachdoor, anyone who walks out on this song deserves to be shot :p
(and most of them will - so its pest control :D)

    [/edit]
Try some Guano Apes, their nu-metally (i like em tho)

    Aye... tis true!

Having said what I said in the last post, most 16 year old nu-metallers (yes there are a few) do probably say things like that.

Pffft Weezer are too cool to be played for kids :)
As allready mentioned play Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Korn, Nickelback, etc. But to bring them down would you play Nada Surf - Troublemaker, i love that feel bad and sad about yourself song :)

Oh the irony of it....these kids will say the same thing in about 10yrs time, probably to their own kids!

maybe some avril lavigne, but I'm not sure if that will go down well

I'd wager alot of the kids will profess to hate her, just to look cool and "Metal"

    i know that's what I do
    :)

At the end of the day, what got them bopping was a healthy (or unhealthy... you decide!) mix of...

    Papa Roach
    Avril Lavigne
    Nickelback
    Christina Milan
    Metallica
    Rage Against The Machine
    The Dandy Warhols
    The Proclaimers
    Michael Jackson
    Gina G
    Limp Bizkit
    Cheeky Girls
    Eve & Gwen Stefani
    Rednex
    Elvis
    Paul Oakenfold
    Nelly
    Puff Daddy
    The Weather Girls
    Pink
    Scooter
    Shakira
    Eminem
    Big Bruvas
    Jennifer Lopez
    Will Smith
    Red Hot Chilli Peppers

...and quite a bit more (cant remember them all)

    ...

    not in that order (!)

some of it was bloody awful (but it was what they asked for so... hey...)

A decent list for these kids, but I dont think metallica should be there (no mainstream kiddies listen to em now'a'days) and their the only band there I'd be caught dead listening to :o

this is just a tad bit off topic u complain about these 16 and 12 year olds listening to new metal when i know many many people in there 20's who listen to it so age means nothing.and while most is angsty ****e sum is ok incubus and the deftones being my choice.oh an djust to say im a 15year old whos mostly into grunge like mudhoney and sonic youth screaming trees etc.some metal like apc the deftones sikth and some electronicia like aphex tiwn chequerboard and squarepusher and can also keep up wiht my older heavier tastes like rakoth in flames and at the gates.the kids these day arn't all bad u kno;)

I am 16 and in to Sonic Youth(Thurston Moore), The Cooper Temple Clause, The Pixies, Nada Surf and also a fair bit in to stuff like New Order, Leftfield, Aphex Twin. There are plenty of us around the place just we are not the ones with the sleeves rolled up showing off scars.
