Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Section 3: Download Speed Results
    Three downloads are tested; one from one of your ISPs servers, one through your Transparent Cache and one through an alterntive cache. This will give you an idea of how capable your connection is. Note: You should take the highest download speed into account.

    Telewest blueyonder - 512k service Server Download:
    14KB/s (112Kb/s) - Poor - this is too low

    Download through Transparent Cache:
    97KB/s (776Kb/s) - Superb - much higher than expected

    Download through alternative Cache (webcache.bt.net):
    101KB/s (808Kb/s) - Superb - much higher than expected

    * It appears that the alternative cache is working better than the Telewest blueyonder - 512k service cache. To improve Web Browsing, set the Proxy Server in your Web Browser to webcache.bt.net on port 3128*
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Section 4: Packet Loss
    50 Ping Requests are sent to your server. The packet loss is measured by how many of the packets don't bounce back to the client. High packet loss may slow down your connection.
    50 packets were sent, 50 bounced back; 0% loss (estimated)
    Fantastic - no packets dropped!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Section 5: Transparent Cache Page Fetch Time
    This test times how long your Transparent Cache takes to fetch a page from the Internet. Please note that this test is subject to many different parameters and sometimes may not be 100% accurate. This test can be used to show delays when trying to view Internet sites. The timing takes place from the moment the request for the file is sent to the moment the proxy server responds.

    Average time taken to retrieve a page: 0ms - At least one of the pages requested failed to download. This may indicate problems with your Webcache. Run the test again to confirm this.

    Eircom's service is known to be less than ideal (relatively speaking) on ping times. If you traceroute to anywhere you'll see the first hop - from you to Eircom's NOC - will be 50ms or more. But it is pretty good for bandwidth. I've found that if I'm downloading anything from a decent server anywhere in the world I get a solid 106kBytes/sec.

    Your estimated download speed 91KB/s

    Section 2: Custom Server Ping Results
    These results are to four user-definable servers.

    Blueyonder Counter-Strike 1:
    68ms -

    Blueyonder Team-Fortress Leage 1:
    67ms -

    BarrysWorld Master Server (all games):
    65ms -

    Japanese Ping Server (VERY long distance!):
    339ms -

    Pings are pretty bad via Eircom...68 MS is terrible. Probably would be 80 in game. Esat please PLEASE come to Balbriggan

    Download speeds are very good...altho its rare to find a server that will give you 50Kb +

    A simple, fast speed test you can try is here
    It just times the downloading of a file to your PC from a server in Texas and gives basic stats. No comparison with the Daniel Elwell level of detail.
    Choose the second test option for ADSL.

    If anyone reading this is running a third-party router on an EsatBT ADSL connection, please let me know by PM or post to this thread

    I'm trying to replace an Esat-installed router which has had NAT disabled, with one of my own which I will use to share the connection on a network.
