I installed a codec during ths summer, can't remmebr where I got it, might have been off divx.com
It included an .avi validator due to the .avi audio stream regulations in QUicktime (jsut converts the sound in the divx to standard .avi - time consuming).
Are there any other media players for OSX?

XMMS or Xine work?

Mplayer has been ported but it doesnt work too well yet.

Video Lan Client would be your best bet.
