    i attached a snapshot of the error message. I remember it happening on a machine i repaired, tho i cant remember what i done to repair it, doh! Im running Windows ME and its on-board sound, ESS something or another :)

    Ok did you try the obvious and click on Update Driver ???

    You probably need the disk/CD to re-install it though but it should work.

    Try a windows update, it should pick up our problem and install the latest driver.

    it actually happened after i merged 2 partitions, everything went haywire, so i decided to put on Windows 2k only and got the drivers for the sound and everything is fine and dandy :) thanks for ur replies anyway guys
