Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Im into self defense quite a bit(don't take any classes) But I think it might be intresting If we perhaps had a self-defense forum for people to post on. This forum would include discussions on where to get classes for this(karate, judo, jui-jitsu), basic moves and expierences. Just a thought though.

difficult to know if there would be enough interest to support a completely independent board, but it would certainly interest me.

maybe as a sub-board of fitness??

actually, im already talking to someone who is the technical director of the JKA shotokan karate association about setting up a forum here for world wide use.

probably not the same sort of thing that you are looking at, but there you go!

I dunno its not like the sport forum is overwhelmed with enough self defense topics to give it its' own board

Although I do taekwondo and I know its pretty big in ireland, a discussion forum would get more ppl talking about it and maybe more people involved which would be a good thing.

All fine and well for discussing Where to take classes etc, but when it comes to explaining moves etc. Big no no.

You need someone who is a trained instructor to teach you this, ever tried reading a martial arts book, I did once and it was rubbish, because you never really know if you have performed the move the way it should be.

+ people could be prone to Injuring any Brother or Sister they may have in an attempt to learn Self Defence from Boards.ie.

I dont think Dev would quite fancy such a predicament, whereby an angry mother/Father might be banging on their door

Fitness should stay as Fitness.

It is enough to merge cardio and weights. I don't mind the odd thread on martial arts etc., as we have had, but I'd rather some other mod dealt with posts regarding "How to become a ninja!?1!" and "Could Bruce Lee kill spiderman?"

A self defence board ... I'd be interested if it was well modded by somebody competent with experience. Otherwise it is just gonna be mostly blabber.
