    Just curious as to everyones monthly motoring costs.....
    Mine are:
    Petrol: 260-280
    Insurance: 138
    Tax: 30 (I think, but 1.8 tax/12 whatever that is)
    Averaged out annual maintenance: 80

    So a grand total of approx 528 a month!!! Half the cost of my car:rolleyes:

    Petrol = €100
    Insurance = €256
    Tax = €20

    So about €375 a month.

    Ando,
    insurance = €576 (FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY SIX PER MONTH)

    You expecting some penalty points or something? That would put you at over 6 grand a year. :eek:

    As a matter of interest, I wonder how much it is to rent a car for a month? Or a chauffer?:D

    Petrol €30 (short trip to work !)
    Insurance €196
    Tax €11
    Maintainence €10 (so far)
    Car repayments €0 (own car)

    total €247

    ando, €800 total a month...is it really worth the expense ? !

    Gurramok: if you're only spending €30 a month on petrol for commuting, is it really worth having a car? I'm guessing you've only got 2-3miles max to travel to work, which is easily walked/cycled.

    Insurance: 91
    Tax: 15
    Petrol: 60
    Service, parts, carwashes etc, say 15

    180 odd/month, 'bout the same as the car loan

    Tax: €6.50
    Petrol: Roughly €20 :D
    Insurance: €78.30
    Repayments to the bank: roughly €120
    Maintenance: rarely, if you broke it up over the year i'd say about €20 a month

    So that's about 244 euros a month :eek:

    (Yamaha XV125 here)

    Correct nearly, about 2 miles :).
    It takes about 6 min drive on good days, 10 min max.
    I cycled for 9 years to and from college/work(last 3 to work) until last august when i gave it up for car.

    Reason?...its too friggin dangerous. 2 cyclists were killed near me last year plus i had many near misses. :mad:
    Walking is out of the question as there is no footpath for about two-thirds of way in.
    Bus service is unreliable and does not leave me in on time, many a time i was left waiting for 2 hrs for bus to come.
    Taxi's/cabs too expensive(10 euro a journey) and unreliable.

    By the way i live in dublin not in the middle of nowhere :):)

    Petrol €150 - 200
    Insurance: €422 (10 months paid, 2 free)
    Bank loan : About €250
    Maintenance: None Yet (New car 7 months)
    Alarm install: €300 once off

    Petrol - €20 per month (the joys of not being able to find work)
    Tax - €12
    Insurance - €140
    Service/repairs - €20

    All in all it's probably not worth it.

    I am in the unlucky position of being an unemployed Galway city dweller and hence not needing any transport.

    So: €200+ a year on good walking shoes

    less than €20 a month ;)

    5 or 6 miles a day on foot is good for you anyway.
