Ok, there's been loads of threads about our most favorite bands/songs/musicians etc....how about this.....

What bands do you hate...i mean detest...make you wanna commit violent acts on them if you ever met them........

1) Any band that appears on TV more than once every 2 hours.

2) Traffic, Bob Dylan, Roxy Music, Leonard Cohen ... ie pretty much anything that Dave Fanning genuinely likes.

3) The Frames, Turn, Wilt, Blootooth and most of the Dublin scene.

U2, Nickelback, Oasis, Blur - in their new incarnation -, Starsailor, Westlife, Six.. etc etc.

I would say Christina Aguiblalalalalala, Bintney Spears & all those pop-whores but they're too ****e to attach the word "band" to them. Plus they're not in a band so that helps.

The White Stripes. Uninspired, derivative bollocks.

The Hives. Rubbish!

The Revs. I picked up Kerrang! the other day in the shop I work in, and they gave Revs' first English gig 5 stars, or K's. ****ing ridiculous ****.

Bob Dylan. What a boring ****.

Radiohead. So mediocre and middle-of-the-road it's painful.

U2. Gay.

Why can they give the Revs five stars, you asked, the reason is because they are journalists, with professional and ethical standards.

Just because something, a band/artist in this case, isn’t to your taste doesn’t mean you should call them "talentless pricks"

And by radio rock I meant the typical mainstream banal rock sound which i think wilt have got in spades... thats the best way i can explain it. Happy?

As for journalists ethical blah blah blah.

Its your writing and its your job to present your argument.
People read various arguments for or against the music in question and make their decisions.

To be Honest i buy 5 music magazines a year.

The best writing can be found on the interent from some guy in birmingham writing gig reviews on his geocities website.

What Magazine are good for is telling you what label the band are from, previous releases.... bands they sound like etc.

Articles about band history can be very useful and informative.

www.allmusicguide.com is probabaly the best resource for objective descriptions of bands. Very useful.

As is the www.allmovieguide.com

no its not after The Frames song "Monument" (but I do like The Frames).

I dont mind people saying they hate or unconditionally hate bands/artists, what you like is up to you

What I do mind is people calling bands/artists "derivative bollocks", "Gay" etc, just because they don’t like them, its just not on.

if you want to say you don’t like something do it in a grown up way

And what's wrong with calling a band "derivative bollox"? Ok, calling them "Gay" may be a little childish but derivative bollox is a valid opinion surely?
