    Help.

Turned on my PC this morning and got the following error messages:

Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. Contact you administrator.

Windows cannot find your local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile.

MS Knowledge Base had this to say about the problem.

Anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it?

    Thanks.

    Patrick.

PS Last program I installed was Kazaa v2- Could this be the cause?

ya m8s machine kept doing this ,all the time

i followed resolution on kb article

    Restore the User Profile
Log on as the Administrative user from step 1 of the earlier procedure.
    Start Windows Explorer.
Browse to the drive:\Documents and Settings folder. The corrupted user profile is contained in a folder that has the same name as the user.
Copy the contents of the corrupted user profile folder to the folder that has the name of the user whom you created in the earlier procedure.

NOTE: Make sure that all system files and hidden files are displayed in Windows Explorer before you copy the files.
    Log off Windows.
Log on to Windows as the new user.
Confirm that the profile data was successfully copied from the corrupted profile.
    Log off Windows.
Log on as the Administrative user.
    Open Windows Explorer.
Browse to drive:\Documents and Settings folder select the folder containing the original, corrupted user profile.
Press the DELETE key, and then click Yes to confirm the folder deletion.
Select the folder that has the name of the new user whom you created in the earlier procedure. Right-click the folder, and then click Rename.
Type the name of the original corrupted user profile, and then press ENTER.
    Log off Windows.
Log on to Windows as the original user.
NOTE: You may want to reinstall programs that were installed using the original user profile

Did what the KB article said and was able to get back onto my PC. :)

Lost ALL of my settings, email accounts, CD Keys, etc.
Even the display drivers reset themselves to the XP default drivers.

I've learnt my lesson - From now on I'll be making regular backup's of my Registry & Profile.

    Patrick.

    Patrick
right way to backup ur registry
    is type ntbackup in run
    tools-create an emergency repair disk
and select the checkbox to backup registry too

as u cant copy paste it in windows with system file protection
but u can disable that in group policy..
    this method is safest
