Apart from The Flaming Lips it doesn't really seem like a good line-up anyway.. although then again tis really more of a rock-based festival I guess, and not quite a Lips audience :)

Aye there was rumours, no idea if thats still happening tho if you check the Metallica thread they're lined up to play here the day after the two Leeds/Reading festivals.. so maybe three in a row.. all depends on whose running it I guess, hopefully won't be MCD anyway.

MCD would have no part to play in it. It was a suggestion from the Mean Fiddler organisation, which runs the Reading festival, to Kells County Council which got the ball rolling on that rumour.

Metallica play the day before the Carling Weekend takes place, Thursday August 21st to be exact.

but mcd jumped in and wanted to hold their own shows in kells and brought the price up so much that Mean Fiddler pulled out and now those bastards at mcd have said they don't want to use it anymore so Mean Fiddler have said there is close to no chance of it starting this year which is what they wanted

I'm delighted its not going ahead there. Why the hell should North County Dublin/Meath get the 3 biggest festivals of the year??? Witnness/Slane/IrishReading. The government decentralised the civil service a while back, time to decentralise summer festivals i think

    can't catch a train no comet? :)

Yeah I do, I still go to these concerts but its not just trains its accomodation etc. makes it bloody expensive. Its obvious they are catering for the population centers of Dublin and Belfast and screw the rest, which makes sense if your a concert promoter. If you want to see good music move to Dublin is the message i get anyway..........

population centers of Dublin and Belfast

well that is where most of their business is coming from...
