A programmer with good graphic design skills.

    That's 2 positions not one.

There's a reason you have graphic design degrees and visual communications degrees. They don't really overlap.

As a poster you feel the need to talk whenever you feel like blathering you're own brand of 'wisdom' so I think I will too.

You can give him the benifit of the doubt at knowing what he's looking for, but I, having a knoweldge of both areas well, know that it is a silly thing to ask for. It's equivilant of looking for a programmer who's also going to design your office building.

Graphic Design is under appreciated by those who don't know what it entails.

RicardoSmith, yes you do pick up 'elements' of each job, but it's exceptionally rare to find anyone great at both.

and thats why i left your post up. you can put whatever you like here, although you certainly are a little techy arent you.
i blather my own wisdom here because i can. usually what i blather is just common sense, theres not much of the wisdom part.

you may be the best in the world in both areas, however, i think the orginal poster is one up on you in the fact that he knows what he wants, and i dont think its anything to do with you.
or do you write letters to random companies telling them how to improve their business or how they should be doing things. if you are that good, you should be running your own consultancy and not wasting your time posting here to be honest.
if you are such an expert in both areas, why dont you do the job?
but of course, then youd prove yourself wrong by being one person who can do the job offered....

oh, kevin, so you admit that someone can do the job?

which is now, are you going to be rude to me for suggesting that someone can do it, or are you going to say it yourself.

    which is it?

now, next time you decide to jump up on your high horse, remember one thing.
you are not an expert in everything. there is always someone out there who knows just a little more about something that you do.

and on this one, im still going to give it to the orginal poster, because he seems to have found someone who can fill the position, so think about what youre saying next time eh?

oh, and dont be so rude next time....

    I so 100 % agree .

As for you WhiteWashMan , your probably older than me , so i think you should reallly act your age , what ever job you do , keep at it , dont try to be Mr know it all SINCE
WEB DESIGNER AND WEB PROGRAMMER are completley different areas , you can only specialise in one of the above with some knowledge of the other . Now what totoole and p said is right , two diffrent opinions but as for you :-

I ve been noticing alot of your posts and you certainly are a little techy arent you ! Jesus Christ , you moan at ever single post !

    No offence Intended .

    none taken,
however, if you bother to actually read what ive written, ive said i think that the person who advertised for the job knows what he wants, and he wants someone who can do both. i never said they werent different jobs. so next time youre going to be pedantic about it, i suggest you read and make sure you dont look like a complete fool when you post up.

    mkay?

    no offence intended.
