    Whats everyones views on the best MP3 Encoder, i usually use Blade or Lame, but which encoder produces the best sounds?

    LAME is much much better than Blade. Development of blade stopped about 2 years ago. Development of LAME is still going strong though (it's currently at 3.93.1). You can get binaries at http://www.hot.ee/smpman among other places. Official site is www.mp3dev.org/mp3

    Listening to my music through Winamp/Isotope Ozone onto a pair of Pioneer SE-A40 open-back 'phones, I find the best results I've had (bearing in mind I only encode at either 192kbps CBR or greater (usually 192kbps VBR, q=2 these days) is the Fraunhofer codec that ships with iTunes on the Mac. It's scarily fast encoding too - iTunes on a 266MHz Powermac G3 -> Quantum ATA33 drive gives Lame 3.91 on my 1GHz Duron (Spitfire) -> Seagate Barracuda IV ATA100 drive a run for its money!
