Sorry to ruin a good thread.... but it actually works. Crows don't go near bales with white paint on them for some reason.

Yeah, ballooba's right. Drive past any farm around the country that has plastic-wrapped bales out in the open and you'll usually find they have large X's painted on them in white paint to keep the crows away.

I guess that guy just wanted to make the message loud and clear to the crows, though!
