    Hi,

Tonight's Musical Chain on "Midnight Blue" is anger and angry songs - doubtless I'll be able to pick out quite a few rip-roaringly angry tunes, but if you'd like to suggest any, please feel free . . .

If you've not listened to the show before, (11pm-1am Wednesday after ICON) we do a "Musical Chain" after midnight featuring up to half an hour of related songs, or tracks that reference each other or some such thing.

Sometimes it's a concept (we had space one week, colours another, even the spire), sometimes each song references the one before and the one after in some textual or subtextual way, and occasionally, as tonight, we just go for an emotion theme :) (I chose anger tonight because the last few weeks have had slower and more introspective stuff and so it's time for something different).

The first hour of the show tends to be lively stuff with less speech and fewer requests, then the Chain after midnight, and the last half-hour is more or less anything goes.

As always, when suggesting tracks, please bear in mind my limited brain capacity, and make sure you give full details of the band/album/track etc. (Remember you're talking to the guy who despite loving the Nine Inch Nails, spent weeks searching the library for a band called "NIN" because people kept texting in requesting it . . . )

If "angry" means "shouty and incoherent" then it's hard to beat Rage against the Machine...

Otherwise, how about PJ Harvey, tracks Rid of Me or Snake from 4 Track Demos, or Me Jane from Rid of Me. (Rid of Me and Snake are also on the album Rid of Me, but they're not quite as angry there!)

Are you trying to tell me those tracks don't have some of the most intense paint stripping vocals you've ever heard????

They make me smile aswell because they could use anger in any interesting way. Most lyricists only sing angry lyrics in an angry manner, but he could sing a chinese take away menu ( which I sure he's very familiar with) and scary the **** out of you.
