Hmmm, actually it only indicates if you're a newbie or not - there are only 2 ranks (ensign and lieutenant). After that you can only go up in the ranks by being appointed a moderator (commander). The only rank above that is Admin (captain).

You might have 31 posts or 1000031 posts and youll still be a lieutenant.

Its useful to know whos new to a community and whos not. Ultimately, you could just look at number of posts, so basically, its just a gadget. Ignore it (unless it says commander or captain).

Susan, i cant appoint commanders, like i said before. I have to get Cloud or DeV to do that. I just thought that every board should have 2 moderators, so if someone suitable is nominated, ill suggest them to a captain.
