They're actually Dan Quayle quotes. He was vice president of America under Bush (senior). He is famous for misspelling 'potato' as 'potatoe' while correcting a spelling bee as a publicty stunt. He also said:

"I was known as the chief graverobber in my state"

"Hawaii is an important part of the Pacific. It is IN the Pacific. It is part of America, which is an island, which is right here." said while visiting Hawaii.
