"The female of the species is more deadly than the male...."
"You say you want diamonds on a ring of gold..."
"What ever happened to Tuesday and So-Slow..."
    "It's like a sunburst..."

    at the moment....

    Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Metallica - Enter Sandman OR The Unforgiven
Unknown Artiste - Windows of your Mind
The Beatles - Hey Jude OR (more likely, sadly) Yellow Submarine

    All for now,

    A

Lots of songs will live forever. Whether or not anybody will listen to them is another thing indeed.

Pretty much anything by U2 including and after "The Joshua Tree"
Pretty much anything by Queen after and including "Seven Seas of Rhye"

And loads of others which I'll post tomorrow when I've had proper sleep, not like the stuff I got last night.

i've been finking about this one for a while and i have come to the conclusion that the only way to predict what will live forever is by seeing how long it has lasted so far.so on the basis of what has already stood the test of time, the songs,or more acuratly, pieces, that will live forever are:

    gymnopedie no.1-satie
    montegues and capulets-prokofiev
    5th symphony-beethoven
    o fortuna-orff
the 2001 space oddessey theme-dont know the proper name or the composer

    and some others

As far as I know the composer was Richard Strauss and it was called Sunrise. Elvis Presley did a version of it for the kiddies!

    According to this we are:

    Richard STRAUSS (1864-1949)
Sunrise from "Also sprach Zarathustra" - Symphonic Poem Op.30 (1896)

The opening of this massive work - once heard it can never be forgotton - made a deep impact in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. So much so, in fact, that many rock musicians - including Elvis Presley! - adapted the theme for a younger, more hedonistic generation

I could scarcely believe it myself when I found out.

The Frames are a really good band... I've only realised in the past month or so, what with all the publicity they're getting with the latest album 'n' all.

"Imagine" will keep going forever. If only I didn't dislike it so much...

And I saw the most incredible band ever live yesterday. Everyone should go and download some of their songs off Napster right now

I might be going to see the Frames on the 28th. How cool would that be?
and, how do you get a picture up? I don't have one so I feel left out. Or I'm just unique

  • Registered Users Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

on the avatars topic there's a link to the list of all the wickle pictures and then go to your own profile to select your very own!(unless you want to stay unique,of course)

i might be going to see the frames again this weekend if everyfing goes to plan but, lets face it,how often does that happen?!!

Sven was going to bring me to Cradle of Filth in the Music Centre recently. But he didn't. He left tickets too late. I was actually looking forward to that. The b@st@rd.

Any tickets left for the frames + how much?

Ian. It was because of your indecision as regards going that I didn't buy the tickets. I almost got a ticket on the day, but events ruled that out.

Oh well. I can burn people myself!
