There is no contest. As great as Spy vs Spy was (and I'm sure goldeneye etc will be mentioned), Mario Kart was streets ahead. Top notch multi-player.

was there a 1st one? did anyone ever play it?

as far i'm concerned its quake 2 on the playstation. myself and a m8 seem to be the only ppl to ever play it, it really was fantastic. perfect frame rate, perfect controls (after about a week of practice), no auto-lock on sheet like on goldeneye, it was all down to skill, and the controls were set up in such a way that you really could be become very accurate with them if you played enough. i'd play the 2 player deathmatch every day for a year, and whenever the opportunity came up 4 player seesions would last from morning till night. pure magic.... i could honestly say its better then CS (well online 56k CS anyway)

Has to be either Mario Kart or Worms.

I hope you aren't talking about Metropolis Street Racer. The multi-player aspect of that was severly lacking. Despite the fact that you needed two save games (and hence two memory cards) just to even begin, it suffered from terrible framerate problems and the smaller screen made it harder to judge those corners. Definetely not one of the better multi-player experiences. Cracking single-player game though.

Duke Nukem 3d or Descent but that's only cos they were the first lan games we had at the time. And the netcode sucked, mostly cos in ran on top of sucky ipx-spx.

I've yet to sample the goodness of Chu Chu multi offline, but the fun of SMK, SF2 and Bomberman took up quite a bit of my SNES days.

    Bleh, offline muliplayer?
I'm confused, so I'll stick to console titles:

Mario Kart (snes) (also, mario kart 64 wasn't half bad... 4 players loike)

Street Fighter 2 (all versions and beyond, except for SF the movie -the game that was pants)

Sonic 2 [2 player vs mode] (sega md) So much fun when you pop that little switch box "<=>" and swap places with your opponent... even more fun if they were about to fall into a pit smile.gif

    Bomberman ('nuff said)

Streets of Rage 1/2/3 (sega md)

Tekken 1/2/3 (psx) excellent game once you learn all the moves and have some decent human opponents.

    DOOM (psx linkup)
