Lo al me again with another one of my great ideas wink.gif To give the telco's an idea of the demand nationwide for broadband and flatrate, we should post on this topic and basically tell them where theyre from. This will let Eircom an all the other big players know that there IS a demand for broadband all around the country, and not only in select places that they decide to target. Let them know that there is demand. Maybe posting here will help.

Me, Im from the North of Dublin

    Thanks for reading

    Matt

Southside Cork city here. About 200 metres from exchange - lots of great hills around for wireless, cable network already in place, yet still dialing up on 56k at 60p an hour offpeak.

Southside Cork City, kind of in a valley so wireless is tricky. About a mile from the exchange as the crow flies. Mine will be one of the ones with a satellite dish shortly...

It's not just this virtual forum that is well-distributed. At the seminar last week, we had people from the following counties:

    Dublin
    Kildare
    Cork
    Mayo
    Sligo
    Donegal
    Wicklow
    Galway
    Meath
    Cavan
    Wexford
    Limerick

Special thanks to those not in the Dublin area who made the trip!

    John

(north Wicklow, 200 meters from exchange, cable monopoly that can't even do TV right let alone Internet)

I'm on the south side of limerick, about 1000M from the exchange.

[I received the powernet application forms last night but am a bit worried about signing up.....from previous experience with Chorus I'd be worried how they would measure the amount I'm up/downloading.....I'd actually trust Eircom ADSL (if ever gets to Limerick) more than any product from Chorus.....]

I live in a beautiful village, a mile from a great beach in North County Dublin, although I originally hail from Limerick, and have spent most of my life there (just about!).

between Wexford town and New-Ross (in Co.Wexford) here; around 1 mile from local exchange (which has not been upgraded to ISDN; at least not in 1999/2000 when I was trying my best to get em to upgrade the exchange).

Portlaoise which, despite being one of the fastest growing towns in Ireland, will probably never see ADSL, at least not in my lifetime. frown.gif

    Swords, North County Dublin.
Swords IS the fastest growing town in Ireland
and I didn't see it mentioned on that list(possible sites) found on the eircom site. I did see Malahide ,which is squashed in between swords and portmarnock, malahide is renowned for it's private estates& high incomes.Eircom is blatently going for the cash here people....

Well, if you denationalise an infrastructural necessity, what do you expect? Remember when P7T put a half a million worth of microwave transmitter (when that was super-dooper new tech) at the head of the Black Valley in Kerry to serve something like five families? Wouldn't happen now with our brave new greed.
