Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Given

    Carr
    O Shea
    Cunningham
    Finnan

    Reid
    Healy
Delap / Carsley - not sure which of these I would go with
    Mc Phail

    Morrison
    Doherty

very experimental team but as it is a friendly it is worth tinkering. With Keane and Duff out, due to mt hatrd of Connolly and Kilbane my options are kind of restricted.

i would play kinsella in mid-field instead other than that not a bad team Waylander considering!!!

lol, nice to see two of the players that mccarthy was witchhunted for getting an airing :P

Kiely <--- Its a busy season, no need for Shay to play.

    Carr
O Shea <- would be o shea but would be nice to see him
    Cunningham
Finnan <- Cant be much worse than hart, but doesnt o shea play left for Uni'eh? Might be worth moving him there and being O Brien in at centre back

Kennedy <- urgh, cant think of anyone else.
    Healy
Kinsella <- proven, best midfielder we have bar keane and duff.
    Mc Phail

    Morrison
Reid <- rather him than someone who doesnt want to play or a defender.

    I'd play...

    - Given

    - Harte
    - O'Shea
    - O'Brien
    - Kelly

    - Healy
    - Kinsella
    - Holland
    - Kilbane

    - Morrison
    - Reid

Connolly and Kennedy don't deserve to be on the panel.

I think we should give Kiely a go in goals. He hasn't been playing bad at all this year. Given isn't looking his best even though he is picking up with Newcastle's form.

    My team...
    1. Kiely (GK)

    2. Carr (RB)
    3. Finnan (LB)
    4. Cunningham (CB)
    5. O'Shea (CB)

    6. Kinsella (CM)
    7. Reid (RM)
    8. Healy (CM)
    11. McPhail (LM)

    9. Morrison (CF)
    10. Doherty (CF)

Kinsella is having a howler of a season. I think he is playing reserve team football at Villa lately. I am not sure he should even be in the squad. Delap is playing every week with Southampton as is Carsley wiht Everton so I would give them a half each and see how they do.

Cunningham and Carr are both out as is Kenneddy.

GK: Kiely (Cos of his form)

    RB: Finnan
    CB: O'Shea
    CB: O'Brien (In for Cunningham)
LB: Dunne(Better than fookin' Harte & Keegan has played him there.)

    RCM: Reid
    CM: Carsely
    CM: Delap
LCM: Kelly (Only one capable in that position getting his game...except Kilbane)

CF: Connolly (16 goals in 17 apps. 'Nuff said)
    CF: Doherty

Lets' just hope to God that donkey Breen doesn't even get anywhere the bloody bench. And hopefully there won't be any huge-big substitutions at half-time.

I reckon we should probably win it.

    Given

    Carr O'Shea Cunningham Finnan

    Reid Holland Kinsella Delap

    Connolly Crowe

Gary Doherty ain't up to it!!!

    GK: Given

LB: Finnan - he can play at left back I don't know why he hasn't been put there more.
    RB: Carr
    CB: O'Shea
    CB: O'Brien

LM: McPhail - left footed good cross, nippy enough and the fact that he's titchy won't be too much of a problem out there.
CM: Delap-playing a blinder for Southampton.
    CM: Holland
    RM: Reid

CF: Morrison - still not convinced but hes a striker in the premiership.
CF: Connolly-17/16 he is teh win.

Why do so many peope, choose Healy , who cant get his game at Celtic, over Delap, who has played great all season i centre midfiled, for a club in and around the european qualification spots.

I mean potential is one thing, but ifd your not playing regulaly for your club, you lack match sharpness, and match fitness!

Connolly must play. He has scored 16 goals in 15 games this season. Any player on that form deserves some respect and a game.

well ive never liked connoly but if he is preforming like dat now he should be doin the same for ireland the question is can he so we better give him a chance to prove himself! wat time is kick off anyway?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

Connolly has had plenty of chances to prove himself. I think he has used them all up. In fairness to him he has always been good at scoring goals in the first division, but I am very skeptical about whether he could step up to premiership level, nevermind international level. I would rather see the likes of Glenn Crowe and Alan Lee have a go now.

By the way Xterminator I kind of agree with you, but Delap has pulled out of the squad now for personal reasons so he cannot be picked.

    > Any player on that form deserves some respect and a game.

The way he threw the rattle out of the pram last game and as a result of some of his crap games in irish jerseys in the past he deserves all the the respect he gets...

When Aldo was the best goal scorer in England playing for Liverpool he was scoring fcuk all for us; goals for your club does not mean goals at international level
