Does anyone know approximately how many cycles (ie charges) you can get out of a Li-ion battery before it dies and needs to be replaced? I'm thinking of buying a Creative Zen mp3 player, which comes with an inbuilt Li-ion battery and a whopper of a price tag.

Various websites have told me that the batteries last from 500 to 800 cycles - but unsurprisingly Creative tech support say they will last eight years (but two years is all they will guarantee). It will be expensive to replace the battery.
