    Dirty traitorous little wanksplash.

"Medical reasons" my arse, only medical problem he has is a throat infection from sucking Alex Fergusons dick every night.

He should be f*cking barred from ever returning to this country.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,476 ✭✭✭Samba

    Ahhh man,

Now all we can ever think about is what could have been.

One of his main outlooks on life is no regrets, dont look back.

HE will regret what happened in Saipan and HE will regret retiring from international Football.

He doesnt know what he has done to the rest of the team, selfish self centred spoilt brat with no consideration.

were better off without him I think.

And as for Mr. Ferguson, I hope he is happy, he should be cause he got what he wanted.

If Karma works, Man u will win Nothing this Season.

Both of them have just let down an entire Nation, but one good thing to come from this is that this long mellowdramatic debacle has finally come to and end.

/me closes the book and goes for a cup of tea

his medical reasons are no doubt his knee... and why should he never be allowed into this country again? he said he'd retired after the WC.
Wish he would play but o well, time to find a new country to support :p

Seriously tho, will be harder to qualify now tho :(

EDIT: HA @ DS for ****ing up so many peoples hopes :p

Im a huge Keano fan and have been since his days at Nottingham Forest,i remember saying to my da " he is awesome and will be some player"
He then went on to devastate me by joining Man U,back then i dreamt of him playing for the pool :)
Anyways todays events come as no surprise once MR arrogant Ferguson stuck his nose in,Keane sees him as a god or something and would do anything he says.
True Ferguson is a great and successfull manager who knows his stuff bigtime and is a massive influence on Roy but he couldnt give a toss about Ireland setup.
I understand Roy turning to Fergie for advice as hes a lot got to do with the great player Roy Keane is, but its this nagging feeling im getting saying to me " I wish that Arrogant person who just happens to be a great footballing man and huge influence on Keano, would keep his nose out "
Then i tell myself i understand Fergie butting in but wish he didnt.

Anyways i think this medical advice molarky is nonsence .
I for one am sorry to see this happen and wish Keane made up his own mind, Or maybe he did?

He's gone now , forget about him , lets look to who'll replace him hopefully someone who puts country before club .....

it's about prolonging his massive wages at Scumchester rather than playing for the pride of the green shirt

Thought he had a backbone after world cup but I think he's taken the spineless way out ...He's gone down in my estimation ....

Fair play to him, he was never comming back and now everyone has been put out of thier misery.

Every Man Utd fan should celebrate...

    Mike.

Wheres the World Cup in 2022?

Do you reckon we might have produced another Keano by then?

International Wilderness...Get your coats lads :(

Hes a total and utter knob imo! He led us on for months saying that he'd only come back if McCarthy left. Now Mick's gone ... what does he do?? He goes and retires!!

I honestly cant see how anyone can stick up for him now. We only have six competitive matches left ... i wonder how many competitive matches Keane will play for Utd before he retires from them???

Yes, but after the WC he said he wouldnt come back if McCarthy is in charge, which would lead one to believe that he would come back if McCarthy wasnt in charge

**** keane, he said he would come back but only if Mick was gone, it really was a vendetta to get rid of him, no one in the team likes him or his attitude that much anyway so probably for best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 304 ✭✭Rags

medical reasons lol, why doesnt he just admit he couldnt give a **** about the team or its supporters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,213 ✭✭✭✭therecklessone

He's a ballbag, pure and simple.

He got his way with McCarthy, and now he's turned his back on us.

Its a disgrace that this was allowed to break before the match tomorrow night, and Brian Kerr has been badly let down by the fact that it came out today.

    The wanker.

I like many others was gutted when Saipan happened, but was not totally soured on him. I felt there were two parties involved in that row.

Although I was not calling for McCarthys head, I did feel when he left that Roy would come back (as he had said in the book).

Now he comes out with this horseshit story about "medical advice" being against him playing for Ireland.
How would it be a bigger risk than playing for his club?
He has turned his back on his country.
    I repeat:
    The wanker.

Well came home after a sh!te day at work turned the telly on and I was cheered up no end by the "Keano show" I mean 6o'c news on RTE :)

Thank god that traitor is finally out of irelands hair. At least now a player who feels proud to be irish will be allowed a place in the squad, not like that primadonna.

FFS! All this Keane bashing is a bit ridiculous! A lot of people have some very short memories... you're all very quick to forget about the fantastic service Roy Keane has done for this country's national team - with inspirational leadership and top class performances on the pitch , he has served the Republic of Ireland wonderfully well in his 8 or so years as a player.

Yes, It's a shame that he's retiring under such circumstances, but the day had to come some time and at least this puts closure to the whole damn "will he, won't he?" thing that loomed over the team.

The man has a life;- he doesn't owe the Irish fans anything further, and he's got every right to be proud of his achievements to date. Anyone here would be incredibly lucky to achieve half of what Roy Keane has achieved in their lifetime.

Any team which pivots around and relies so heavily on the influence of one single player is a team with a problem. What does the team do when the player isn't available? When he isn't on form?

It's perfectly understandable that Roy should decide to call it a day at this stage, having originally decided to do so after the World Cup and with the pressures of his health and his career now upon him. If it was you in the same position, and you could play for your country at the risk of your personal career, or you could retire as you had planned to do anyway, don't tell me you'd do any different.

Best of luck to Ireland tomorrow. Best of luck to Roy Keane for the rest of his career... and may the fuckwit fair-weather "fans" who delight in constantly putting him down be finally silenced for once and for all. He was the best player our national team has ever seen. He's retired now. It's that simple, really.

Thanks Roy - best of luck!

Well it finaly happened. Roy Keane the greates whinge bag to ever be produced in this country finaly but the last naill in his international carrer by announcing his retirment.Did any one realy thimk he'd come back. NO.There was no chance once Alex big nose Ferguson got involved.Fergie hates international football ever since his disaster spell in charge of the scots in the 86 world cup in mexico.HE's always tryin tricks to get his player's out of haveing to play international football Gigg's, Robson, Palister,Strachan for an example. But poor Keane he realy did pull the wool over our eye's all his whinge about Mick how hed play for a new man (got mick sacked byu playin the sympathy vote)what a load of B ****e there was no way he was comin back.
But to hide behind an excuse of an injury is pitiful even by his standards(which are as low as u can go) he might get injured well chances are hell get broke up in the premeirship tryin to bale out the wasters around him at scum utd (beckham nevile veron).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

No offense Bard, but that's pure rubbish.

He should be proud to pull on that Ireland jersey, he shouldn't be thinking he's doing us a favour by deciding to wear it. It has nothing to do with being fair-weather-fans, people just want the team to be the best it can be, using the best players. At 31 years old, it's pretty much BS to say he's too old to be playing.. what? An extra 6 or 7 games a year?

And he may have said he was quitting International football after the WC, but he also said he might return if McCarthy was fired. One of the main reasons for McCarthy leaving was the public wanted to see Keane back in the squad, he knew it as did the FAI. So he left. His managerial career may never be the same again and it's all because of Keanes crusade against a good manager who made the team play with some passion and style.

    So screw him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,064 ✭✭✭BKtje

He's been in and out of injury for the last two years. He's getting on in years and still has the injury. Seems like a valid excuse to me. (hip injury, not knee as i earlier said)

A lot of people coming here bashing him for leaving. Seems like bitterness to me. In the extreme.

Maybe he wanted to stop playing irish footie cos of the shoddy setups and the bloody fans who are as fickle as the rain.

We love him, o wait its a tuesday. BOOO TO ROY KEANE.

Grow up plz and get on with your lives.
If Saipan hadnt happened he'd have gotten a carnival for his retirement.

I am just trying to work out the Logic here. He has retiered from the Irish squad on Medical advise/grounds. So he is finished with Man U aswell? NO? How come? He must be a very very injured man?

OK Ok. Let me look at it another way.
How many games a year would he have played for Ireland? 6 or 7.
Say, just say, that Kerr said "Roy,Boy, we know you have had some tough times with your knee and hip, but what If you forget about the friendlies and concentrated on the games that would qualify us?" Would he have played then? Would he like F**K!

    Keane you are a disgrace.

Ahuh,- and if that's all you remember, - even if that's what sticks out the most for you when you think of Roy Keane, you have, like I said, a very short memory.

Alan Shearer is an absolutely amazing player. I don't see anyone attacking him for retiring from international football. We could have used a player like Denis Irwin in some of our recent games, yet when he retired from international football (and kept playing club football), he had praise heaped on him. The same goes for quite a number of players - including Steve Staunton and Niall Quinn. You don't see the fans screaming at Kerr to try to get THEM back on the squad, or screaming at THEM saying that they're being selfish by retiring from the national team.

Why should Roy Keane be any different? Because he's such a controversial character? Because the whole Saipan spat took place?

Frankly, it seems people will probably never stop hounding him and placing huge amounts of blame and responsibility on him. This whole sorry affair will hang over his head for some time yet, and -sadly-, will tarnish his superb career.

Why is it that people remember you better for the f**k-up's and mistakes you make than for your outstanding achievements?

The grieving whinging bastards should really give it a rest. It's getting old, tbh...

Why did he meet with Kerr in the first place?

What was said that made Keane make his final decision?

    /me shrugs

"parts":) of Bards post should be taken in to consideration, he did do alot for Irish Football and I am almost Certain he will do more in the Future. but if you think about it (in relation to the past 4 years) it was all in Vein he wasn't even at the WC.

The main problem is that Keane has somewhat lifted alot of peoples hopes by hinting his return to Footbool.

I had a feeling that this was going to be the outcome, I won't say what the rest of my predictions are....

    Adieu

    Keano, for now

nice to see in his novel that he said he wanted to play for Ireland again. ****ing scum of the earth. This prooves that he was out to make life much harder for Mick McCarthy, I feel a fool for ever siding with him.

We could have used a player like Denis Irwin in some of our recent games, yet when he retired from international football (and kept playing club football), he had praise heaped on him.
Both Irwin and Shearer said they would retire after the competitions they were competing in, and then did. They retired respectfully, and with dignity. Keane f*cked off home and lead the whole country through ups and downs, and rubbish speculation. For instance claiming he would play if McCarthy was replaced. Well now's he's gone, and Keane (having kept the public in 'suspense' for over half a year) has retired anyway. He's shown no loyalty, and he has left with absolutely no dignity.

So he cannot be compared with great players like Irwin and Shearer. Had he said before the world cup, that he would be gone afterwards, and then he retired afterwards, i would have no problems. It's manner in which he deceitfully mislead the fans over a course of 8 months that annoys me.

I am disappointed that he has finally pulled the plug. BUT before turining this into a scouse v united thread as it obviously is by the comments coming from some of the abu's here look at the facts.

Keane WAS going to retire from International football after the WC.

Yes he said he never would play for Ireland while McCarthy was there, BUT when did he say that he would play for Ireland again.

Kerr had a meeting and he states that Keane would go away and think about it and talk to his medical advisors.
This is the reason he is not playing, pure and simple, play for Ireland, have more risk of getting injured and shorten his career.
Kerr therefore jumped the gun by saying he thought he would play for Ireland

Another fact, he gets paid by his club not his country. If he gives up the international he will extend his club career and therefore make more money.

As said by someone, look at Shearer, he is playing his best football since given up. He made the right decision, no one is calling him scum bag etc etc.

The fact is we have lost one of our best players, he is still a world class player who has made a decision, so for once look past the abu and see what he has done for Ireland, not who he plays for.

As an Irish fan I am gutted he is gone, there goes our chance of qualifiying.
    Best of luck to him.

BTW - The next time ye meet him, tell him what ye think and let ye argue the point. I am sure ye all will.

He will care when he has to listen to these very people for the rest of his life, everywhere he goes. And family have to listen too.
If he gives up the international he will extend his club career and therefore make more money.
Not like it's a gruelling international run.....
He has 6 games to play.
