Futuremark creators of the graphics benchmark standard 3dmark have released their long awaited new version 3dmark 2003. The latest version has full benchmarking capabilities for directx 9 and provides some fancy demos to test your graphics hardware to the max.

Weighing in at a whopping 171megabytes, 3dmark 2003 can be found here . FPS(Frames per second) afficiandos might have to wait for a few hours though as the site is been bombarded with page requests.

Perhaps something about nVidia pulling out of the 3DMark Program last december has something to do with those statements/rumours?

It has more to do with the fact the tests use an ATI specific Pixel Shaders version and then fall back to the oldest Pixel Shader standard (not the one just under ATIs level). No game would operate like this, a game obviously would use the slowest and most supported standard. I have an ATI 9700 card, but I still think this makes the tests somewhat deceptive as this is not how a game works.

The GFFX is slightly faster than the 9700 in the 3DMark 2003, had the test used a more logical approach, the FX would have scored considerably more.
