Is it possible to backup my PS2 games ?
I've tried to see whats on the Cd by browsing iton my PC but W2K doesn't recognise it as a valid Cd. I tokk a look at the back of the Cd and notice it has the PS2 logo in hologram all over the back........does this prevent it being read properly ??

Aren't pirates in Japan spreading the games across a number of CDs instead of using a DVD?

Anyway, it can't be as bad as the GameCube smile.gif

Even though I was their captive, the Indians allowed me quite a bit of freedom. I could walk freely, make my own meals, and even hurl large rocks at their heads. It was only later that I discovered that they were not Indians at all but only dirty-clothes hampers.

    Latest Prices for DVD-RW Drive

    £575 Stg + VAT

    Latest Prices for blank dvds

    DVD-R: £11 Stg +VAT
    DVD-RW: £16 Stg +VAT

Not a viable pirating option, oh sorry backup option for a few years anyway. Thank Christ, people who feel they shouldn't have to pay for new games are scum anyway (Sorry if i insulted you it is my opinion).

I'd say it would require some smart ass pirates to spread a game intended for dvd across seperate cds

yup, you can backup your PS2 games on cd as most of the game content is only 700MB in size.
you have to drop the audio and replace it with files of "samename and format" but these are 0KB and the same with the movies.

yeah, most pirate PS2 stuff is on cd rom as there are no mass DVD copying devices available on the highstreet.

Yes, but then again so does over-priced games.

For a start, a lot of PS2 games are DVDs, not CDs, so you can't copy them without a DVD copying system - which are bloody expensive.

Even copying the normal PS2 discs requires specialist know-how. And then you'll need some additional equipment to get the little buggers to work on your PS2.

So the short answer is yes, it can be done. The long answer is yes, it can be done, but it's a lot of effort and cost.

It's not the same process, because most games are on DVDs not CDs. How hard can this possibly be to understand?

Also - your "mate" is a scumbag.

Yes your mate is a scumbag , right this moment an organised hitman should be put a bullet in his head from a drugonov around 6miles away..........sweet!
<the above is what should happen , in a perfect world>

no games arent over priced £50 for a game that cost millions to produce is acceptable to me.

Games don't cost billions to make. Looking at some titles, you'd wonder if any money was spent on them at all. A DVD costs £20, and even a modestly budgeted film costs far mroe to make than the likes of Shunmue

£50 for a game is ridiculous, no matter how the good game is. Gaming cannot really expect to rival the film and music industries unless it makes gaming affordable to the mass market.

ELSPA figures have even showed that if the price of games is decreased, will increase sales, expand the game market and lead to increased revenues.

Plus I suppose I should give my €.02 on the topic in question.

For some games I am more than happy to fork out £50 because they give me a lot of entertainment. I paid £30 for Q3 and it just keeps on giving. Plus it's very pretty.

It is possible to get ripped off or even recognise that's it's a good game but just not your type (i.e. B&W) and that's why reviews and word of mouth are so important.

To summarise: if a game gives you months of joy why not pay the money?

I just like to say i usually wait till a game comes out on budget title.

They seem to be coming out faster and faster with 'newish' games on the budget lables.

Also these budget games ofter have all the patches built in, that have to be released when they find a bug.(eg CM3, Halflife etc.)

Guess I'm just a tight git that doesn't want to spend £50 on a game.

Yes, I know the games industry is worth more. It cannot rival them however in social acceptance, market size or popularity, and it won't do so unless prices drop.
