I have heard rumours that the Students Union of Ireland has eventually decided to support the anti-war demonstration on the 15th of February. Can anyone confirm this? I have been looking and haven't seen any posters in colleges in the city centre to inform students that the demonstration is even taking place!

aside: Has anyone noticed that the posters publicising the demo at the junction of Dame street and Georges street in D.2 have gone missing?

It seems like nearly everyone is supporting the anti-war march on Saturday. I've never seen a march of its kind get so much press coverage. Usually they wait until after the march, and only if some violence happens.

I'm glad it's getting so much coverage - everyone's going to be there. Bout feckin' time like.

I going to be there and I hope none of those socialist or sinn fein bastards are going to be causing trouble, undermining the march. I think even showing posters with the socialist party or sinn fein or even the green party for that matter shouldnt be done. No political party should be trying to make gains on such a movement as I fell it cheapens it.

I know that that a group called the friends of palastine are going to be there and that sinn fein and the greens are supporting it, among others. I suppose the more diverse the support the better, but i do agree the political parties shouldn't get on the band wagon in this particular case. I hope that the presence of certain political parties doesn't deter the average joe from attending whatever their political affiliations. RTE news is publicising the demo and on the lunch-time news today they said itcould be the biggest protest in the history of the state. Well in the mean time I'm off to getting on to the usi- if they can hang up posters advertising rag week then a poster or two to publicise the demo shouldn't be a problem especially if they are giving their support.

Well that give's me a reasonable explanation.... but I have noticed for previous marches/demo's they have remained up and the litter warden hasn't taken them down/just couldn't be bothered.
