Consider the US; the world's only superpower, called the de facto policeman of the world. Or not. Bully is more accurate. As we have seen yesterday, 13th Feb 2003, Hans Blix reported to the UN, having discovered nothing of import in Iraq and requesting more time to investigate the arms situation, also having announced that Iraq was cooperating more than ever before. Did the US welcome the news? No. Colin Powell and Dubya simply upped the pro war jingoism with Bush's most recent speech. Consider North Korea. Actively developing nuclear weapons since 1998, 4 years after signing an agreement not to. Did Bush announce that the Pacific Fleet was going to return to the Sea of Japan?? Did he hell. The so called hawks have entered into 'negotiations' since the reason for the behaviour of the NKPR is that America failed to act on the promises made in the document signed in 1994. Contrast these situation; Iraq, army still not recovered from 1990/1, destitute people, no WMD since America have been engaged in a twelve year air war, bombing suspect sites at will between 1990 and 2002. North Korea, falling regime trying bolster itself by threat of war, enough artillery to flatten Seoul and all the US army units in Korea, possibly already have nuclear weapons. Does the US decide to remove Kim Jong Il? No they want to eliminate Saddam Hussein, head of a regime with no ambitions territorially speaking and no links to Al Quaeda. Is the US therefore not the world's greatest bully?
