Hi, been using the Reqwireless WebViewer on the 7650 to view Web (HTML) sites, and it works very well on PDA friendly / low-graphic based sites.

It was great to be able to visit more than WAP sites with the built-in WAP Browser, but WebViewer didn't have a cache and there was no full screen option.

There's a new (better) browser out for the 7650 called Doris Browser, the main enhancements are a cache, and the option to view full screen.

At approx. 180KB the Doris Browser is larger app than WebViewer (approx. 50KB), also the cache can take up some space, but save reloading previous loaded pages as with WebViewer so you save KB.

As Opera announced they won't be bringing their Small Screen Rendering browser to the Series 60 (due to memory constraints) the Doris Browser looks like the best option for the Series 60 at the moment.

Watch out for your GPRS WEB (ISP) usage (particularly on Vodafone) as WEB surfing is much heavier than WAP, even for PDA friendly / low-graphic sites. You can also use a dialup CSD/HSCSD WEB (ISP) conneciton if you needed to.

Two good portals listing PDA Friendly Sites, to build up your bookmarks:

Emm... not sure about that Brian. The word from the horses mouth (unless the guy -- Dag Olav Norem -- is a very convincing imposter) is that Opera are working on a version for the Series 60 platform.

Also, I'm just after seeing this announcement about ACCESS' NetFront v3.0 Web Browser which is now available for the Series 60 platform.

It seems the competition in web browsers for Series 60 is really hotting up! Free evaluation version is available for download here

yeah - thought they would bring it out too (after going to the trouble of developing it!) - so i was sad to see them say they wern't going to on their site :( - let's hope they manage to squeeze it down :)

their CEO had it running on a 7650 on a news.com interview - but then he used the P800 to run through the actual demo of the smartphone browser

Also, I'm just after seeing this announcement about ACCESS' NetFront v3.0 Web Browser which is now available for the Series 60 platform.

cool - just gave it a whirl - very feature rich with loads of options and file support - but it's a bit of a whopper at 1.3MB installed, although they said it's a beta so maybe they can shave it down? - had to do some juggling of application / files get it installed/running on the phone though

for full web use it formats really well although any largeer pages (i.e. this forum!) threw a memory full error and popped back to the browser welcome page - for someone who need to visit full blown sites, wants multi page type support and can handle the memory requirements it's pretty powerful - suppose the trade off is in app size with e.g. Doris (final) approx. 180KB (300KB dynamic cache) vs NetFront (beta) approx. 1.3MB (1.5Mb runtime - from their readme)

with the memory limitations on the 7650 - hopefully they might release a NetFront Lite version or get it's memory requirements down for the final release - it's a well put together application but it's current size makes it too big for me to use/keep on the phone :(

Thanks for the heads up on it's release,
    BrianG
