go to run & type in msconfig

click on the startup tab & the world is your lobster

you should have used kazaa lite in the first place tbh

    regedit

    In the following to hives:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    HKEY_LOCAL_USER

    Following key location (in both):
    //Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run/

All the Keys in hte two Run directories start programs on boot. Kazaa should be there.

    Be careful!

hmmmm, msconfig doesn't seem to want to work on this one either, i guess it's hidden somewhere else in 2k...

adaware is another way to get rid of it.

There are a couple of places where programs auto-start when you log into windows.

    1. Startup Folder in the start menu.
    You've already eliminated this

    2. win.ini
there ate two lines at the beginning
    load=
    run=

If those lines are equal to nothing, theyre not starting any apps. If theyre equal to something for example stuff.exe then thats what they are starting.
You can use either a ; to ignore the line or remove whatever is after the = sign.

    3. Registry
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run Services
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run Services

Any keys listed in these folders are also starting wehen you log into windows.

    4 Services
Some applications can use services to start automatically
    Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services

Then there's somewhere else that I havent found yet.. I have had apps auto starting that havent been listed in any of the above mentioned places, and I've had no luck tracking them down.. Anyway hope some of this helps.

Usual warnings apply re: Editing registry and win.ini...

I know its been sorted but anyway...
There is no msconfig in 2k though technically you can copy the .exe file from 98 and run it if you want..

Anyway These little crappy things.. like savenow.exe and the like.. all usually end up in program files.. easy thing is to go in there. look for the crap and then run the uninstall thats in there.. always works and its the only way they dont get a law suit filed so they have to provide the uninstall option i think.

I would strongly advise getting the following program:

    Spybot - Search & Destroy
This program will remove any of thoese nasty spybots that are put in in your computer by free and shareware software and will remove them for you. Also allows you to edit programs that run on Start Up among other things. Id advise everyone to get it. :)

Spybot - Search & Destroy (Dortmund, Direct Link)
    Spybot - Search & Destrpy (XangelX.com)
