right this is what i understand
cable 1 2 3 and 6 is all that is needed

    on jack 1
    1 2 3 x4 x5 6 x7 x8all in normal places

    then jack 2
    3 6 1 x4 x5 2 x7 x8

    x denotes not used

am i correct in this? its starting to do my head in as the cable works fine as straight through so im guessing that there is no break in the line

both computers are win xp and all i see is the network cable unpluged device
