I just bought a new head unit from the states on Ebay. The problem is the radio frequecies in car stereo's in the us are slightly different to that of Europe. They only receive odd numbered stations, which means I cannot get a lot of radio stations like 104.4 and 103.8 etc... I was told you can get an expander to correct this, but can anyone tell me more? Where are they fitted, how much do they cost, and where can you buy them etc?

It is a Sony CDX MP70,

It sells in Motor Store for €720, but I got it on Ebay for less than €350 including postage. It was the first time I'd bought from E-bay... It was very easy i'd recommend it to anyone...

Nice looking radio. Unfortunately, unless you already knew http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-aZ9UGdCMxRd/ProdView.asp?a=&s=0&g=62700&id=features_and_specs&i=158CDXMP70 states that the receiver cannot be retuned for european settings (the jvc kd-lx50 i bought over in the states can), not sure though how you would go about getting an expander. Can see it taking up a lot of space either way, do you really want 104.4 anyway? Any radio fitter worth his salt should be familiar with people buying head units for cheaper in the states and at least have

Expanders are about the size of a match box and they fit in between the ariel and the headunit but i dont think an expander will sort out the problem with the odd numbers on the head unit,

Ive a jap headunit in my car and it only picks up stations on odd numbers also ive done some research and cant seem to find a way to rectify it, if you do find a solution please post it here
