    Help!

Today I did my first bit of web-site editing when I got rid of some spam
on my sites guest book, after a bit of
faffing about I managed to edit the file and upload it, now no dodgy sex links appear. Exellent I say to myself, so emboldened I try to edit the news page of the site but while I do this succesfully I cant seem to upload the file the the site host.

The new edited file is on the hard drive in the WS_FTP folder and its as it should look, when but when I transfere the file from the local system to the tromote system and refresh the page nothing new appears, I've deleted the old one so surely it should load...

    I've uploaded using binary method.

I'm obviously missing something, so expert advice would be a help!

    Mike.

I also use WS_ftp for transfaring to the Website, Binary mode if for most file types and ASCII is for text files. Does the new file exceed cause you to exceed you disk space, Is it a prohibited file type. Try uploading a different file.

    Its updated.

Trouble is now I've got the same problem with the links page, the changes are fine on my hard drive but when I transfere up nothing changes on the site...

Did you try Shift-Refresh to flush the cache?

Makes no difference I'm afraid. I'm slightly confused about what the problem is. Even when I've deleted the file from the romote host like now,
    the page is still visible!

Check the main directory and make sure there is not more than one index in it, you might have had index.html already there and uploaded index.htm or index.php, somthing to check for.

Also try uploading again and watch the connection log which will be at the bottom of your WSftp screen, watch and make sure there are no errors when uploading.

Also make sure you are uploading to the correct directory.

Let us know how you get on.

Well I got the links page to load
finally, its strange as I did nothing different to before. I'm wondering if there is some sort of blockage in the system (?) somewhere that prevents
quick changes at the romote host end...

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Mike.
