Running dos games under windows 98

    Can some1 tell me how to run dos games in windows? the game, under a killing moon, is being particularly stubborn, whinging about how theres no mouse installed and other crap.

    try restarting your computer in dos mode

    you might need to get and load dos mouse drivers???

    ive tried it in dos mode and it tells me a mouse isnt installed. how do i install it?

    you need to find ms dos drivers for your mouse

    Universal mouse driver for DOS. Won't work if you have a USB mouse (but you knew that already).

    Found using google (+windows +dos +games +mouse +driver +download).

    Tnx a mil sceptre but I found that one afterwards :):):). Im gonna have to look for a cd-rom one now. Ne1 know if I'll need anymore drivers?

    Its called oak technologies or something to that effect.


    I dunno how to set it up so can some1 help meh? I got no puter skillz. :(

    Aye, that's the one - it even comes on the win98 setup floppy.

    You /should/ get away with adding this line to config.sys for the CDROM:

    device=oakcdrom.sys /D:oemcd001

    I have this one in my autoexec.bat as well:

    LH MSCDEX.EXE /D:oemcd001 /L:D

    Obviously the two files will need to be on the floppy as well, assuming that's what you're doing.
    If not, (and someone please correct me! - I know this isn't quite right) I think the references have to be added to config.dos instead of config.sys
