    Can anyone help me?

    I have a PII 233 with 64mb SDRAM, a 4mb STB Velocity AGP video card and I
was wondering if there is anything I can do to make Quake playable at 800 by
600 fullscreen...it runs at around 18 FPS at the moment but it's not really
smooth enough to be all that playable, particularly when theres a couple a
bad guys...the sound gets a bit choppy and the frame rate goes down to about
4 or 5 frames per second.

I tried using 32mb main ram but it actually got slower and I already use
vid_nopageflip but are there any other ways to get it even faster?
I have WinQuake ver 1.09 by the way.

    Thanks for yer help...

    I had the same problem..pPro, 80Megs ram, 4meg
STB Nitro card....damn thing was unplayable
in vid_mode 5 (or thereabouts) until I got
wind of Fastvid. Its a tsr that sits in yr
autoexec and speeds up video (read the txts
for a more detailed explanation) muuchos muuchos
fast. Can now play in vid_mode 8. Which is nice.
Umm..can't remember where I got it.
Search (yahoo or ftpsearch) for fastvid
    should do the trick.
