playstation 2 DVD-R/+R question

    Hi can anyone tell me if these are compatable ??
    ie will DVD-R discs play on PS2??
    and DVD+R the same??

    does it depend on the DVD disc (ie quality)

    etc?

    The PS2 will read DVD-r format but not DVD+r. X-Brick can read both formats. Disc quality can be a problem as older machines have pretty bad lasers, and the better the media the longer the life of your laser!

    Perfectly Correct mfield.. Also depends on what ure reading..
    As he said dvdr- will read no probs better the media the better the chance of it working.. Older ps2,s will have probs with crap media and will reduce the longetivity of the laser..
    Will play movies no probs on the newer ones
    I repeat will NOT play games without a modchip of some kind.. on new or old ps2,s
    Tried and tested and will not even with various media boot up ! :(

    Dvdr+ i know nothing about with compatibilty with ps2,s
