Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How to get an EPG with FTA only inc BBC Radio

You used to be able to get a Basic EPG (no pay or FTV) of FTA only including BBC Radio at 851 etc.

Since version 3.xxx SW the box remebers the ROI Card.
A new Install DOES NOT FIX it!

At back of card slot a switch detects if card inserted. The pins against the gold pads then operate.

    Here's how:

    1) Unplug digibox
    2) Put in a Cheque card etc or ANY satellite card with Gold pads upwards, i.e. Upside down, The reader detects a card but can't connect!

    3) Power on box.

    4) When LEDs light, press Sky on Remote. Ignore messages.

    5) Select 181 or Guide.

Once you have got off the non-working Demo channel 998, the Box works as a FTA box with ONLY the FTA listed on EPG. No wading through lots of pay channels.

If BBC TV goes FTA instead of FTV in May, then 101, 102, 960, 961, 962, 983, 160, 161 etc will all be BBC TV

    Meanwhile enjoy the Radio.

To go back to ROI Family EPG simply remove card. Place in correct way (pads down and to front) to resume subscriber viewing.

Perhaps I'll add a real physical on/off switch on my Digibox and a slide switch across the card detect switch?

Curously no BBC radio 7. I'm sure it works on PC Digital Receiver. Is 7 on Sky EPG yet?

In the same way as BBC parliament appears if you do that now :)

On another note, presumably if CAS is not used/paid for by the BBC, then it cannot be used to block the BBC in the Republic, thereby allowing us to view all services through other channels :)

Unless of course $ky do not want us watch news 24 :( and stir some rights issues dirt up.

I'm a kind of thinking though that, RTÉ is imminent in the North if the BBC go down this road.

Edit: Actually, there is no porn channel on 983. Strange.

    Oh, well investigated!!

Simply turn the viewing card upside down to get FTA channels only is very handy indeed!! :D

    Ch 983???
My brain isn't properly connected to my keyboard :-)

A friend lost his sky card after cancelling. You can use any old plastic card the same size as a Sky card.

I have a second hand digibox that I bought in England, so it has never had an Irish Sky card in it.

I have no card and get the FTA channels as you describe, but can only get BBC7 and BBC 1Extra through 'other channels'. They don't seem to be on the EPG!

Yes. It is (R7) definately on UK Card EPG though. There seem to be maybe 3 or 4 FTA vs UK Card anomilies (UK FTV, UK sub, UK cancelled sub cards, not ROI card)
