Taping from NTL MMDS

Any help appreciated. I've e-mailed NTL but presume I'll never here from them.

I just got connected to NTl MMDS with
a NTL MMDS set-top box (their aerial into this)
All I know is that my TV remote control must be on
    Channel 1,
I then use another remote supplied by NTL to look at
the channels BBC, UTV, CH4 etc.
I can tune in RTE1,2,TG4,TV3 on my TV remote and video remote
but how pray tell me do I tune in BBC,CH4 etc on my video
so that I can tape these channels.
I thought maybe a scart lead between the set-top box
and the video, but I wasted a nights sleep trying to figure it.
only to lose RTE1 etc on the video as well.

    Brendan,

You cannot is the simple answer. MMDS is basically the same as a satellite system (with less channels). All the channels (except the four Nationals which you should be getting on a separate aerial) arrive into the home scrambled, and the decoder can only unscramble one at a time.

Ideally, you should tune the Four Irish services on Buttones 1 - 4 on your TV, and then the decoder output (usually on the UHF band) to button 5. This will allow you to tape an MMDS channel and watch one of the other four; or tape one of the other four and browse with your MMDS remote on channel five or normally on any of the other three channels.

    Hope that's of some help.

Thanks. I can tape with a scart lead from the top box into the video. I just record from channel E2 on video ( external scart 2).

Pity I can't tape UTV while watching Channel4 etc., but atleast I can tape.

The analog MMDS from Woodcock hill direction in Limerick is only "mostly" scrambled.

If your TV does high band III VHF or Hyperband you can tune 3 clear channels here last time I looked. (C4, TV3 and Chorus mixy channel with H&L/Bravo/Chorus sport on it).
