Recommend some quiet CPU cooling please.

My old P3 500Mhz used to run quiet as a whisper. Since upgrading to an XP2000 the noise of the fan mounted on the heatsink is really annoying me. There is no brand name on the fan so I'm guessing it's fairly spurious and low quality soI'm looking for advice on a new one.
Looking on Komplett all the fans with specs seem to run about 33 - 35dba but I've no idea whether this iis quieter than what I have.
Are coolermaster a good make? If not then what is best?
How good/safe are those flower heatsink things?
How long before the first watercooling reply is posted? (I'd really rather not)

I'm using a coolermaster DP5 7JDIB-0L which I got from komplett. It isn't silent, but it is a damn sight quieter than what I previously had... (CPU is an Athlon XP 2000+)

Huh id be intrested in how silent that hsf is,I got a coolermaster HHC-001 copper heatpipe hsf and it was bout 55-60 dB ( ear piercing ) if you havent already orderd it check out the Zalman flower coolers ( gonna set you back 60 Euro's tho ) noise level is from 20dB to 26 i think.Sell them in maplin + peats in dublin.

30dB is usually a fine noise level ( easy on the ears ) for a fan imo.

... all i know is that ive 3 pc's in here, this 1 is the noisiest and when you walk into the room its sounds like theres 20 servers running in it!

You want to get something thats under 20dba ideally. You will hear anything thats over this. My advice is either get a Zalman flower, or some large heatsink like the AX7/Alpha PAL8045/Thermalright SLK-900 and stick a 80mm fan on it. Something like a Papst NGL or NGML on it.

The HHC-L61 from cooler master is great, very quiet and very cool. What more could you ask for.

Doesn't seem that quiet to me. Mind you I'm running a Zalman All Flower HSF on the quietiest setting and think that it could be quieter.

Well it's in.
Quiet it is, silent it ain't. Still a big improvement over my last turbine though. It is one heavy motherlover though, so much so that I'm a little concerned about it hanging from my vertically mounted mobo!
So to conclude, I can't say whether I would recommend it. It is expensive compared to some other available heatsinks and fans. It is cool but I only have one other setup to compare it to.
