I find that when i use the weight training machines in the gym, that on certain machines the lat pulldown and the seated row, my hands hurt more than the muscle. What i mean is that, it's hard to hold on to the grips. I find my grip getting tired before the muscle. Is the weight just too heavy or am i doing something wrong?

Your grip/forearms probably aren't strong enough.

Try 'static holds', i.e. hanging free from a chin-up bar for as long as you can, or just perform one Deadlift, and stay in the upper position holding the barbell for as long as you can (be careful about putting the bar back safely). You can do wrist/forearm curls with bar/dumbells too.
You could also get some grip tools, like the Captains of Crush; they'll really help your grip.
