    Hi guys,
Just to let you know I was in Virgin mega store in Blanchardsstown and they had Meteora for sale, and yes it was the album not the single. Its only supposed to be released on the 24th (Monday) but its out now, I cant say if its for sale in any other shop. BTW you also get a free Linkin Park poster for free when you get the album.

As for the album there are a few tracks I instantly love and a few others that are growing on me.

"Pain is a closeup, happiness a wide shot."

    Hi,
I've just been going by some of the web sites such as HMV, Virigin and Amazon. I haven't seem any adverts for today being the release, the only date I've seen is the 24th.

So all of those sites were in the UK, the US has a release date of the 25th of March according to the main linkin park site at http://www.linkinpark.com/home.php and to Amazon.com.

So it looks like the UK release date is the 24th and the US 25 th and Ireland the 21st ?

So was the release date staggered around the world ? seems very strange to me

That happened with eminem's last album too.. it was supposed to be released on the monday (sometime last summer, can't remember exact date) but they were selling it in HMV on the friday evening..

Ireland allways has releases on the Friday before English releases. This is because our charts are compiled on the Friday rather than the Monday over in England or something like that.

Placebo's album was out today aswell wasn't it?

Why is this in the Metal/Rock Section?

Humanities would be the right place...

Shouldn't this go on a pop music board or something. U are talking about that new album from that boyband Linkin Park right?

Its a good album, but doesn't have the instant appeal that the first album had. Very varied though! And a bit heavier too, in places.

If I had a heap of money I'd buy all the coppies and burn them all. That'd be a truly great humanitarian act, saving everyones ears from that tripe they insist on calling music!

I can't see how 3 chords played over and over again with a rapper and "Singer" is good music but how and ever...

    Found an appropriate board yet?

    Humour for example...

After constantly listening to the Meteora album for the last while, I have to say that it is a class album. I said earlier that its not as instantly appealling as the first one, and whilst that is true, it is a really cool album, great hooks and some outstanding riffs too. Plus, as per the last album, its second-last track is an instrumental, but this one is faaaaaar better than the last one. Very haunted sounding!
Okay, fair dues its not to everyone's taste, and its plainly obvious that on this board there are more detracters than advocates. But seriously, this is a good example of an album that is the best of its genre - in this case, Nu-Metal. Or in other words, for a Nu-Metal album, it is bloody fantastic.
And I'm not solely a nu-metal fan. My album collection contains EVERY slayer album, 90% of the sepultura albums, carcass albums, all the Anathema albums, about 80% My dying Bride albums, all the NIN albums and all the Devin Townsend albums, amongst plenty others.
Maybe its the variety of the album thats appealing, because I certainly don't like these Nu-Metal albums that contain just a load of cry-baby lyrics and at best, two singles! So for those of you who are not death metal purists or dyed-in-the-wool anti-linkin park fans, then I would recommend giving this album a lash, or at least find a website where you can burn it from. I guarantee that whilst you may not enjoy it, you will certainly appreciate it for its originality (for being in a genre thats albums are basically clones of each other).

porn has a point come your comparing gimpin perk to THE HAUNTED...think about what your sayin here!!!

Bit of confusion here. What I meant by "Very haunted sounding!" was that it sounds eery and spooky, not that it sounds like 'The Haunted'.
    Confusion sorted!

Hmm, just listening to the $2 bill Linkin Park concert on MTV2 at the mo, I did want to hate their new songs but they're fairly ok, I quite like "faint", although you just know every single they bring out will be copiously over played. That said, Chester "Benderton" and his voice wrecks my head. The guy needs some laxative, seriously.
Mike Shinoda and Mr Hahn totally carry that band, IMO..
