I am trying to reinstall windows me from the disk that came with my system. When i click on format/recover i get the following error
"unknown media type in drive c".
I have tried booting from a floppy but get the following error
"disk i/o error. Replace the disk and press any key"

Would there be anyone out there to advise. The wife paid for it and she is going to kill me.

    Cheers

Search the web for the bootdisk download it and try again, floppies can get messed up very easily. Thankfully Ive never installed ME so I have no idea what the setup is like....try for another boot disk and you should be sorted.

read the post guys, he said drive C!

i hope your wife didnt pay for ME!

did you partition the drive? I dont even know if ME comes with fdisk, but it might be a start.

Did you low level format the drive?

Have tied to reboot from a new floppy but alas still same error message.
I have only ever had 1 large 40Gig partition and have previously tried a low level format. It was after doing this that i got the message "unknown media type in drive C" when trying to reinstall from the system recovery disk.

    Cheers

That's a bit harsh. Once you've fdisk'd, it should all be happy days. Even if ME isn't cd bootable, you could plug the HDD (as slave) into someone else's machine and sort it from there.
