Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks.

Noticed that GMTV is now also on the ITV News Channel. Between the regular ITV news bulletins,Trevor McDonald etc, it is a bit of a bonus for us beleagured ROI Sky viewers!

Only for the war I'm afraid, and not at weekends (when GMTV goes into cartoon mode).

Would GMTV only be doing what the BBC already do. i.e. their
Breakfast programme is on BBC NEWS 24?

Anyway if its only on for the war at least we (unfortunately) have probably got months and months of it to look forward to .

    Different kettle of fish.

Both BBC NEWS 24 and BBC BREAKFAST are not only run by the same company, the BBC, but by the same directorate within that company BBC News.

However GMTV and ITV are seperate companies, despite sharing a frequency and some shareholders.

GMTV Limited is owned by Carlton, Granada, Walt Disney, and SMG. So its 75% owned by the ITV companies.

ITV News Channel is owned by Carlton, Granada, and NTL. Its' 65% owned by the ITV companies.

It's however operated by ITN, which is owned by Carlton, Granada (you can see a trend here), Reuters, Daily Mail, and United. 40% by ITV companies.

Each is managed seperately and often wants to do seperate things, even if it has common shareholders.

ITV could easily buy NTL out of the news channel if/when they want to as NTL are part of France Telecom who want to reduce their debts. NTL has just come out of receivership and needs all the money it can get / wants to focus on it's core activities.

As for ITN, ITV are currently waiting for approval to take it over 100% (Disclaimer: according to the Guardian)
