Java Executable

Not something I've really looked into and need to know how its done. Basicly I use Eclipse/Jbuilder/JDK to create/edit/run my java.


The problem is how do I generate an executable file that I can put on a floppy and use in any old machine.

I mean C/C++ generated a standalone executable every time it was compiled.

Anyone can help:(

Use a program called exe4j.

there is a way to do it from native java...cant remember off the top off my head.it's in JDK1.4 though. you just call the method and pass it a string ( path and file you cant compiled )
anyway it's in the java docs. it's in the java.lang package i think.

Actually you can create self executing JAR files. The other machines would need a JVM and the association but it would mean that the jar should work on all systems.

Thanks for the replys guys.

JAr and exe4j are the two ideas I'm going with.

The JAR idea sounds good but for speed I think I might go with exe4j.
