This was the description of zwan by a friend of mine. Now i haven't heard much of their music(heard honestly once or twice) so i was just wondering what was people's opinion(i'll probably hate myself for it) of them? Are they worth buying?

    P.S. Yes i'm a big pumpkin fan

    Are they good 24 votes

Even as a rather big Pumpkins fan myself, I think they're sordid mung-suckers.

Can't say that I am a fan of them even though I was a huge Pumpkins fan. They just seem to be missing something.....

Meh, they're not a patch on the Pumpkins but they're still good. Alot better than most of the tripe around anyway.

Definately try before you buy though.

Zwan are the new band that billy corgan(lead singer of the pumkins) and another ex pumpkin have made.

They are suppose to be a more upbeat happy band

they are and ther're not. The album sounds a bit like siamese dream era pumpkins, but maybe not as catchy

The other Pumpkin in Zwan is Jimmy, the drummer. The reason it sounds more "upbeat" is because Billy's gone all religious and spiritual on us.

Also, it sounds NOTHING like Siamese Dream.

I dont like them. the pumpkins are class, but Zwan are just too average for my liking

I'm pretty huge Pumpkins fan, but I like Zwan. Honestly (no punnage intended). I'll admit that some of their tunes are a tad too optimistic and upbeat for most Pumpkins fans' to bear, but they do have some good stuff. Some of the Djalizwan stuff that's filtering out now, for instance, or the excellent "Spilled Milk".

I wouldn't write them off just yet. I've got a feeling their music will get darker.

i got the zwan album ...its good alright altho some tracks were a bit dodgy but i loved that one jesus i......but that analogy is so trur - pumpkins on prozac......in my view what made the pumpkins great was the dysfunctionality of the band....there was always underlying tension that feuled the music no end....

From a musical point of view there are some great tracks there.... But as a pumpkins fan, some of the lyrics are almost unbearably corny, lyrics that just don't seem, well Billy-like...

I'd say they're defintely worth seeing live though, particularly if like me, you never had the chance to see the pumpkins

    :(

Hrm... on an off-topic point, Anyone ever been to a pumpkins concert..? Must have been amazing....

Zwan are a really good band. I was lucky enough to see them live when they played in London a couple of months ago, they are a totally different animal live.

Yeah, the album does have a lot of cheesy lyrics and songs and it is a bit 'happy', but that's what its all about and I think its great.

The new album should be out by the end of theis year, and its going to be an acoustic album. To be honest, I reckon its going to be a lot better than Mary Star, and that's a great album.

Zwan have hijacked the Smashingpumpkins.com URL and have redirected it to their own site so clearly they think that they ARE the smashing pumpkins. There is no poll.Zwan are the smashing pumpkins. It's the end of the world for the prozac theorists.

yeah, smashingpumpkins.com does redirect to the zwan site, but there's a reason why...

smashing pumpkins had a contract with Sony to host their message board and web site, but the contract expired and sony didn't want to extend it. So, a new smashingpumpkins.com message board went up on a new server without sony, but that didn't last too long. It's redirecting to zwan.com really for the old message board members, much to the annoyance of the zwan forum users, where discussing smashing pumpkins is very much frowned upon.

i am a pretty big pumpkins fan and i have to say that i quite like zwan, they're different from most bands out now,but after listening to so much pumpkins its hard to get used hearing billy use such corny lyrics. I don't think their music will get darker though. I read a message from billy on zwan.com he seemed pretty happy:eek:
