    New GPRS pricing/tariffs from Vodafone

For Light / Active / Extra Performer / Globe Extra / Globe Performer tariffs:

"Pay as you use" GPRS [new billing]
    No inclusive data
2c per KB up to 512 KB and 0.5c per KB for any usage over 512KB

    GPRS 3
3 Megabyte per month (no carry over) ciosts Eur 12
Each additional MB costs Eur 3 (charged per KB)

    For Sharetime tariffs:

    "Pay as you use" GPRS
    No inclusive data per month
2c per KB up to 512 KB and 0.3c per KB for any usage over 512KB

At least the new 3MB inclusive option is better(it used to be only 1MB) - but would have liked to have seen a few more options/packages - good to see the pay as you use getting an overhaul, after you use 512KB it goes from 2c per KB to .5c per KB

was expecting something along the lines of what O2 were offering (a range of packages)... so if this is the extent of Vodafone's new offering - if you are using 5 MB or more data per month you still get better value for your GPRS packets from an O2 package...

    e.g.
10MB on O2 is Eur 24.20 with each additional MB costing Eur 2.42
10MB on Voda is now Eur 33 with each additional MB costing Eur 3

(under the old 1MB only option on Voda 10MB would have cost almost Eur 75!!)

Here is their new mobile data offering. The pricing I was told about was E2 per Meg up to a limit of 10 I think then E1.50 for the next 10 and so on.
Business and private users can both get it.

    thanks for the link iwb

that's the Option Globetrotter GPRS card alright (branded Voda) - unfortunate they didn't go with a multi-mode radio card that also supported HSCSD - suppose that's Voda HQ calling the shots on a group wide standard as not all of their operations had rolled out HSCSD

a multi-mode radio card from Nokia / SonyEricsson would have been a better solution for us in Ireland (they would also have the advantage of supporting WiFi)

looking forward to reviewing the service conditions / tariffs - haven't been able to get any details so far

    cheers for the info,

they've put their press release details up:
Vodafone Ireland Outlines Latest Data Developments

still not crystal clear if one needs to buy the Mobile Connect Card and pay the sim rental to get the GPRS sliding scale prices though? - have asked them to send out a bochure when it's available

Vodafone Mobile Connect Card will be available through Vodafone's dedicated Corporate Accounts Team as well as through retail outlets and will cost €247 (Vat Ex). There is an additional SIM rental charge of €7.50 per month. Usage will then be charged at GPRS rates.

Vodafone also announced today a suite of new GPRS tariffs which are designed to reward usage on a sliding scale. With the Mobile Connect Card, 0-5MB will be charged at €2 per MB, 5-20MB @ €1.50 per MB, and 20+MB @ €1 per MB. Typically, a small powerpoint presentation is 1-2MB. Text messages sent via the Mobile Connect dashboard will be charged at the following rates: 0-50 SMS will cost 10c per SMS, 50-100 SMS will cost 8.5cent each and over 100 SMS will be charged at 7cent each
